Esteemed Lynwood Unified educator Shawna Dinkins, Ed.D., has been posthumously named the 2025 State Curriculum and Instruction Administrator of the Year by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) – a prestigious recognition that honors her decades of innovative leadership and unwavering commitment to equity and opportunity for all students.
This statewide recognition follows her earlier selection as ACSA’s Region 14 Curriculum and Instruction Administrator of the Year. Dinkins – who served as the District’s deputy superintendent and passed away unexpectedly in March – will be formally honored during ACSA’s Leadership Summit on November 7.
“This recognition is a moment of pride for all of us who had the privilege of working alongside Dr. Dinkins,” Superintendent Gudiel R. Crosthwaite, Ph.D., said. “Her visionary leadership and relentless advocacy for students have left a lasting impact on our community and will continue to inspire our work every day.”
Throughout her career, Dinkins was a passionate warrior for equity who was dedicated to developing new resources that fostered student success. During her time at Lynwood Unified, she helped cultivate major investments, expand college and career opportunities, and transform schools into safe, supportive environments for students and families.
Lynwood Unified remains committed to upholding Dinkins’ legacy and ensuring every student has access to the resources and support they deserve. Her work will continue to guide the District’s efforts towards creating an environment rooted in academic excellence for all.
