Firebaugh High School Dress Code Policy

Dear Firebaugh High School Community,

As students are returning to school, we need the assistance of families to ensure students are wearing appropriate attire to school. As a reminder, below you will find our dress code policy for your review.

Student attire is primarily a matter of personal preference and family guidelines. However,  a student's dress may not be disruptive, unsafe, and obscene or promote alcohol, drug or gang  involvement. Dress that is disruptive to the educational process is not permitted. Students  whose style of dress is inappropriate for school will be subject to consequences.
The following list is to serve as a guide, and is not intended to be all-inclusive.  The following is NOT PERMITTED:
  1. Clothing with alcohol, tobacco or drug promotions, sexual references, vulgar, sexist or  racist sayings, gang insignia on shirts or belts, or ripped/ tom jeans.
  2. Bandanas, scarves or hairnets.
  3. Accessories which could be considered weapons, such as spiked wrist wear or ankle  bands, spiked rings or lengthy chains of any size including chains that are attached to  wallets.
  4. Strapless, off-the-shoulder or revealing garments/ undergarments, bare midriff tops,  halters, swimsuits, strapless tube-tops or spaghetti straps.
  5. Cut-out tops or excessively baggy pants.
  6. Shorts and/or skirts of an inappropriate length.
  7. Hats or head scarves may not be worn on campus with the following exceptions:  A) Hats that are sold or otherwise furnished by the school or by a school approved  organization may be worn on the campus during nutrition, lunch, before or after  school. B) Hats must be removed when entering a classroom or office.
  8. Sandals, flip-flops, slip on shoes (house shoes), or steel-toe shoes.
Violations of the Dress Code
  • Students who continually violate the dress code policy will be held for after school  detention.
  • Continual violation of the dress code policy or failure to report to detention will result in  the loss of some, or in serious cases, all school activities.
  • Parents/ Guardians, please assist us by ensuring that your student leaves home dressed  appropriately.  A change of clothing brought from home may be necessary in some instances.
  • All school personnel have the right to confiscate articles that are forbidden on campus under the  above code. Confiscated items will be sent to the Administration Office where they may be  released to the parent/ guardian.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Kind regards,
