At Marco Antonio Firebaugh High School, we are proud to carry forward the legacy of our namesake by fostering academic excellence, equity, and student empowerment. We are committed to preparing all students to thrive in a complex and ever-changing world through rigorous academics, diverse pathways, and strong community partnerships.

Our mission is to inspire and develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who contribute to a more just and peaceful world. Through student-centered instruction and a focus on 21st-century learning, our goal is to help students become empathetic, principled, resilient, and globally minded citizens.

Academic Excellence

At Firebaugh, every student has equal access to a standards-based core curriculum in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. We offer a range of rigorous academic programs that support student success and college readiness, including:

  • Advanced Placement (AP) Courses

  • A four-year AVID program with tutorials, field trips, and college support

We are proud to maintain open access to all AP classes, ensuring equitable opportunities for all learners to graduate A–G ready, prepared for college-level coursework.

College & Career Pathways

Our students explore futures beyond high school through Career Technical Education (CTE) programs in:

  • Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Engineering

  • Film and Video Production

  • Biomedical Sciences

  • Computer Science

We partner with Compton College and Cerritos College to offer dual enrollment opportunities, allowing students to earn college credits right on our campus.

Arts, Athletics & Activities

Firebaugh High students are encouraged to discover their talents and passions through a wide range of programs, including:

  • Our award-winning band, recognized in state competitions and community events

  • CIF varsity sports (including our Boys Basketball CIF Southern Section Division 5A Champions), with JV and freshmen teams, and cheer

  • Clubs and organizations focused on service, culture, leadership, STEM, and more

A Culture of Learning and Leadership

We take pride in cultivating a school culture centered on ownership, collaboration, and high expectations. FHS educators are dedicated professionals who work together to reflect on data, differentiate instruction, and close achievement gaps—especially for English Learners, Students with Disabilities, and African American students.

Our 6-year accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)—with a mid-cycle review in 2025–26—reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and excellence.

A Safe, Supportive Environment

Firebaugh offers comprehensive academic, social, and emotional support through school-day and extended learning programs. Students receive interventions before school, at lunch, and after school from partners such as:

  • The Movement

  • Crossroads

  • LUSD Equity Department

Our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program has earned Gold recognition, demonstrating our commitment to a positive and inclusive school culture.

Student well-being is further supported through:

  • A schoolwide Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum

  • A mental health collaborative providing on-site services and referrals

  • Our status as a Community School, focused on integrated supports and family partnerships
